Cup of Tea "차 한잔"

(pronounced cha hanjan)

A chat with photographer Esther Lee / Eslee

“There are so many photographers and artists out there, it’s hard to be different! The longer I’m in this industry the better I feel like it is to create a community rather than isolating yourself.”

How did you get your start in the creative field?
I literally started from my garage! I bought my own props in college and became creative with them. I often used my garage floor at my parents’ house to take photos and my old Canon Rebel EOS was the best I had back then.

What is the most challenging aspect of creating your own work?
The most challenging part is constantly coming up with new concepts. There are so many photographers and artists out there, it’s hard to be different! The longer I’m in this industry the better I feel like it is to create a community rather than isolating yourself.

In which moments are you the truest version of yourself?
When I am in my pj’s eating goldfish in bed.

Favorite songs at the moment
Shallou- You and Me
Claude Debussy- Clair De Lune

Favorite recipe or restaurant dish at the moment Just any kind of all you can eat sushi

Where do you draw inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from traveling and books

Your personal style in three words
Clean Minimal Simple with a little pop

Can you describe one of your favorite hannayujin garments that best expresses your personal style? Myeong Empire Pleat Dress, it is easy to wear and super comfortable!

How would you style this piece?

I would style it with a headpiece and either some comfortable sandals or neutral heels. To give it a more traditional feel, I would wear my hair in a low bun with black or nude slip on shoes.
